미국 도서관주간의 네 가지 주제

미국 도서관협회가 2026년 도서관주간을 맞이하여 내놓은 간략한 글에서 네 가지 주제를 생각해봅니다. 첫째 독서권(읽을권리), 둘째 도서관에서 일하는 사람들, 셋째 지역사회 곳곳에 찾아가는 도서관, 넷째 도서관을 위한 행동.

매주 수백만 명의 사람들이 도서관을 찾습니다. 그럴 만한 이유가 있죠. 4월 19일부터 25일까지 진행되는 국립도서관 주간 동안, 여러분이 도서관에서 무엇을 하며 기쁨을 얻는지 생각해 보세요. 도서관에 가서 친구, 가족과 함께 즐거운 시간을 보내세요. 친구에게 도서관 카드를 만들어 다양한 기회를 누리도록 권유해 보세요. 책을 둘러보고, 독서 모임에 참여하고, 프로그램이나 스토리텔링 시간에 참석하거나, 메이커스페이스에서 다음 창작 프로젝트를 시작해 보세요.

국립도서관 주간은 도서관을 기념하고 도서관을 더욱 튼튼하게 만들기 위한 다양한 활동으로 가득합니다. 다음 기념일 중 하나(또는 모두!)에 참여해 보세요.

4월 20일 월요일: 읽을 권리의 날 - 도서관을 사랑하고 지지하는 모든 분들께 검열에 맞서 이룬 승리를 기념하고 읽을 자유를 지키기 위한 행동에 나서줄 것을 촉구합니다. '읽을 권리의 날'을 맞아 미국도서관협회(ALA)는 2025년 가장 많은 이의 제기를 받은 도서 10선 목록을 포함한 '미국 도서관 현황 보고서'를 발표할 예정입니다.

4월 21일 화요일: 전국 도서관 직원의 날 - 지역 사회에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 도서관 직원들의 노고에 감사하는 시간을 가져보세요.

4월 22일 수요일: 전국 도서관 봉사의 날 - 사람들이 있는 곳으로 직접 찾아가는 도서관을 기념하는 날입니다. 이동 도서관, 지역 팝업 스토어, 학교, 요양원 등 지역 사회 곳곳에서 도서관을 찾아보세요!

4월 23일 목요일: 도서관을 위한 행동의 날 - 올해는 여러분께서 도서관을 지지하고 의회에 연락하여 입법 검열 시도에 맞서 행동에 나서주시기를 부탁드립니다.

It's National Library Week!

Millions of people visit their libraries every week—and for good reason. During National Library Week, April 19–25, take time to discover what brings you joy at your library. Visit your library and bring friends and family along; encourage a friend to get a library card and discover the opportunities it unlocks; browse the shelves, join a book club, attend a program or storytime, or get started on your next creative project in a makerspace.

National Library Week is filled with opportunities to celebrate our libraries and take action to keep them strong. Join in on one (or all!) of the various commemoration days:

Monday, 4/20: Right to Read Day - we're calling on library lovers and advocates to celebrate wins against censorship efforts and to take action to defend the freedom to read. On Right to Read Day, ALA will release the State of America's Libraries Report, including the list of the Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2025.

Tuesday, 4/21: National Library Workers Day - take time to honor and thank the library workers at your library for all they do to impact your community.

Wednesday, 4/22: National Library Outreach Day - a day to celebrate libraries meeting people where they are. Look for your library out in your community - in the bookmobile, at a local pop-up, at schools or assisted living facilities, or wherever!

Thursday, 4/23: Take Action For Libraries Day - this year, we're asking YOU to show up for our libraries and take action against legislative censorship attempts by contacting Congress.
