워드워즈, 초원의 빛/ 오길영 교수 페이스북에서

김윤식 선생이 오래전 정년퇴임 강연에서 인용했다는 워즈워드의 시. 왜 이 대목을 언급했을지 그 마음이 조금은 이해가 되는 나이에 이른 것이 왠지 서글프다. 삶의 광채는 덧없이 지나가지만 우리는 그래도 꿋꿋이 살아야한다.

"한때 그처럼 찬란했던 광채가
이제 내 눈앞에서 영원히 사라졌다 해도
초원의 빛과 꽃의 영광 어린 시간을
그 어떤 것도 되불러 올 수 없다 해도
우리는 비통해하지 않으리, 오히려
뒤에 남은 것에서 힘을 찾으리
지금까지 있었고 앞으로도 있을
본원적인 공감에서
인간의 고통에서 솟아나
마음을 달래주는 생각에서
죽음 너머를 보는 믿음에서
속깊은 마음을 가져다주는 세월에서"
