*코로나19로 생산이 멈추면서, 지구의 하늘이 맑아졌다고 한다. 정치지도자와 경제학자들은 책 제목으로만 존재했던 '경제성장이 안 되면 우리는 풍요롭지 못할 것인가?'에 대한 답을 현실에서 내놓아야 하는 상황에 처했다. 끊임없는 생산을 통해 고용을 유지하고, 소비를 통해 다시 생산의 동력을 얻는 경제성장 신화는 조금씩 무너지고 있었다. 만성적인 실업과 지구가 감당하기 힘든 환경파괴는 인류에게 다른 삶의 방식을 고민하게 했다.

Political leaders and economists are in a situation where the answer to the question, "If economic growth doesn't exist, will we not be rich?" The myth of economic growth, which maintains employment through constant production and gains momentum from production through consumption, has been gradually breaking down. Chronic unemployment and the destruction of the environment, which are difficult for the planet, have caused humanity to consider different ways of life.
*최근 재난소득지원을 넘어서 전면적인 기본소득 논의가 본격화되고 있다. 생산이 멈춰도 공동체가 구성원들에게 생존을 위한 돈을 지급하는 것이 가능해 보인다. 토목 사업과 환경 파괴 없이 경제공황을 극복할 수 있는 새로운 뉴딜실험이 시행되는 것이다. 이것은 경제정의와 사회 복지시스템도 흔든다. 우리는 이미 기업에 자금을 투입해보았자 고용을 유지하거나 새로운 성장을 위한 투자를 하지 않는다는 것을 학습했다.
Recently, there has been a full-scale discussion on basic income beyond disaster income support. Even when production stops, it seems possible for the community to pay the members for survival. A new New Deal experiment will be conducted to overcome the economic crisis without destroying civil engineering projects and the environment. This also shakes economic justice and social welfare systems. We have already learned that once we have invested money in a company, we do not maintain employment or invest in new growth.
-코로나19는 장기화될 것으로 보인다. 잠재해있던 정치경제사회시스템의 모순이 전 세계적으로 튀어나오고 있다. 그래도 한 가지 희망을 본다면 코로나19로 멈춘 세상 덕분에 우리는 추상적으로만 생각해왔던 '사회'와 '공동체'의 효용을 피부로 느끼게 된 것이다. 각 개인이 삶을 도모하는 것보다는 공동체가 힘을 모아야 한다는 공감대 속에서 공공성 강화, 보편복지의 확대, 생태주의적 전환 등 사회경제시스템의 개혁도 가능해 보인다.
Covid-19 is expected to be prolonged. The potential contradictions of the political, economic and social systems are emerging all over the world. If you still see one hope, thanks to the world stopped by Covid-19, we feel the utility of 'society' and 'community', which we have only thought abstractly. It seems that social and economic systems can be reformed, such as strengthening publicity, expanding universal welfare, and ecological transformation in a consensus that the community should gather power rather than promoting individual life.
우리의 물리적 거리는 지켜져야 하지만, 사회적 연대의 거리는 더 가까워져야 한다.
Our physical distance must be kept, but the distance of social solidarity must be closer.
